But its such an absurd behaviour to play around with food knowing fully well that so many other human beings desperately need, just a pinch of what we recklessly dispose into that trash can.
Its heartbreaking to know that what we tag useless, can be what someone else direly needs to keep their heart beating for another day, if not, few days.
Seeing this trend starting to get its hold in my house, I purposed to fight it before it was too ugly to uproot from the house systems. So we cut down on the weekly food supplies, because we would rather have it finished than rotting. This helped considerably but a good amount was still being left around for cockroaches n rats to find potential ground to build their entire empires.
So I set out to have two pantries, the one where everyone could access and get their fancy whenever needed, stored the first half of supplies. Then there was another, a virtual and non-existent one to others, but very existent and known to me, where the second half of supplies lay, waiting to save the day when lack encroached. It sure felt good to have my own big secret in the house so full of people but with no idea of this goldmine.
So where the rest see one part and so sparingly use and share what they know is available, I see double portions, a rodent free zone and a ready back up.
