So I set 2020 out for a year of self love, where I can treat myself like a special person that I care about. Trust me, this self love mantra was also brought into my kitchen. How so? You might be asking!. This meant a lot of things had to change from past settings. It meant I would eat at the same time as everyone else in the family and not have to wait until I saw everyone half way through their meal to be sure everyone is eating okay, it meant I had to serve myself food in the finest china in the house as well, as opposed to eating in that small easily reachable bowl, it meant I had to also garnish my meal as I served my food just like I did for everyone else.
So, this one bright sunny afternoon, lunch was ready, and as I served the chicken sauce, I put two pieces of it in each one's plate and then this self love feeling hit me again, like a Cupid's arrow, itchy but sweet too. I then secluded my plate from everyone else's and tucked one extra fleshy piece under my green bananas("matooke"). And as I walked to the dining table to eat harmoniously with the rest of the family, I could feel my heart smile from within as I said to myself, "that one was for all the times you forgot yourself."
Now, watch out household! Am coming for those gizzards that African settings claim is only for the head of the home.
IT'S SELF LOVE TIME!!
