Zillion blue moons..

My beloved country seems to be seeing a ray of hope dealing with it's share of  the COVID-19 pandemic but one thing is for sure, the uncertainty is still loud, eyes and ears all open, waiting to act on what tomorrow brings. But the mouths of Ugandans are even more busy, praying for the country and the world to be healed. And as they pray and pray and do nothing else as per the lockdown standards, their calorie baskets are being emptied and hunger is a constant visitor, harshly demanding for refills. As the house stores get cleared quicker than earlier planned, first with the yummy stuff, the despised foods seem to be the last men standing and though eaten, it's not a very voluntary action.

They say, there's no painkiller tab for hunger, it took a zillion blue moons for food to regain it's glory, corn meal is now like a security guard, keeping the stomach peace! To have the once despised vegetables in the house, is now prestigious. Having dried food powders  from fish to mushroom to milk, credits you with good accounting skills, even without any financial education. Getting a dark chocolate bar is a sign of arrivalism and to even afford at least one full meal a day brings a feeling of having survived the worst that could happen. As tough as the times are, may we learn that food is a precious gift and so also, use it rather than abuse it.

EQUALLY UNEQUAL

They call it fast food, I call it a saviour on that rare day, with a quick fix when there's nothing else to eat in the scary dark hour. ...
