King employee

I think the employee types or structure of any business has the power to break or make it achieve multi-millionaire status. These people are the representation of you when you won't personally be there, when your eyes and ears can't point you to who needs that warning letter. I think its safe to say, business owners are at the mercy of the kind of employees they have and how well they are doing.
Over the past few weeks, I have seen a trendy eatery, well known for its family friendly nature come from grace to almost ashes. Filled to the max, with big and small families on the weekends to having the waiting staff being the ones sitting on the mostly empty tables, hoping for clients.

I had noticed a sudden change in the cooking recipe of their meals and thought they would soon sort that back to default settings, only to have the trend go on until it got to a point of burnt food being served. Of course, the chef was to blame for this continuously rising mess. Was he bored with the cook routine? Was he fatigued from all the previous preparations, cooking and some more? Was his team under staffed or rather unbecoming, that he couldn't get a breather? Did he realise this job was no where close to giving him purpose or at least leading him there? Was he overwhelmed with maybe personal health or emotional struggles? One thing is for sure, he was struggling with something or things and the result was average and eventually unbearable food for us.

The books of accounts of this eatery must have sent red flag signals to their management because when we decided to hand this eatery another try, we were so pleased with what was handed over to us, specially made for the pleasure of our palettes. Something had been reset and it brought it back to the perfect place we all deemed it as, way back when. Happy employee, happy food! Happy food, happy body! Happy body, happy business! Happy business, happy employee! Happy employee, happy boss!
I guess in the end, not customer, not boss but employee is king!

EQUALLY UNEQUAL

They call it fast food, I call it a saviour on that rare day, with a quick fix when there's nothing else to eat in the scary dark hour. ...
