This was not the case the first attempt though, maybe because I was trying so hard to do it all right. The second time around, I really got to see and feel the hows and whys of the recipe. Believe me, behind the scenes is a real labarotory, getting those yum treats, takes a whole lot of mixing and concocting. If you would allow me say my mind, I think it's really trying a little too hard for those little short lived pleasures, that only leave you wanting for more like some kinda addict.
As I made these food mimics in my kitchen, gosh!!! I had no cooking oil left in store, my wheat for days used up and no butter in sight, after it was all done. With every step, I seemed to need more and more cooking oil and flour for best flaky results, only to come out with just seven near-adolescent sized chappattis. The quantities of these ingredients used, freaked me out yes, but it is the way they were deceitfully compressed into a minute end product that really ached me!
Do people know what they are eating? Are people somehow alerted of the food make up as they buy them? Is it ignorance or obstinance buying these foods? Are these foods eaten by habit or just another occassional bite?
Dear food makers, give us food freedom, show us the real face of what we are eating. Better inform us, so we can better decide, what we really want or don't want, for that matter! Not by being tricky or blinding but by opening our eyes to what food options are!
